NON-TEXTILE DESIGN

Metal madness was a project given in my non-textile class. The objective of the class was to create a piece that did not involve textiles. I quickly got the idea to design a dress using copper art sheets that I had used in a high school art class. I understood the movement each sheet had and it gave me the idea to shape it to my models body. Overall the sheets could be dangerous because the corners are very sharp. In order to make the dress safe and comfortable, I lined the whole dress with pattern paper then hot glued each sheet to the body of the paper. To make the dress manageable when taking it on and off I used Velcro strips at the location of a side seam would be.
